That's my feeling, really. Especially after the (still unresolved)
    NIP of earlier this year.
    Track bike?

Nah, a replacement for the bandit. Eventually. I'd like something a
little more suited to mile-munching (Daytona, perhaps).

Or I might go the supermoto route as a second bike. If/when I get my
debts cleared (February, if all goes to plan. Only a year and a half
    early!)

An unfaired bandit still makes going fast "too easy", but it at least
makes the rider aware that they're going fast. How many times has
someone posted on here something along the lines of "I was just pootling
along, looked down and the clocks and realised I was doing 160" ?

That's not "too easy", that's "daft". Fun, but daft.

Who's going to bid on a UK bike in Basel?

No way. I can't take that level of hassle.

Ignoring the fucking awful spelling... no, let's not, as that one
really fucking irritates me - learn the difference between lose and
    loose, FFS.

Now, where was I? Oh yeah, are you that poor a rider that you can't
judge when it's appropriate and safe to do high speeds? It's just as
easy to lose your licence doing 70 in a 30 limit, but I don't hear you
suggesting that you don't want a bike capable of such ridiculously
    high speeds, do I?

Yeah yeah yeah. Look, I don't have a problem with people not having
hyper-sports bikes - in 25 years of riding the gixxer's the first one
I've owned[1] - but FFS why can't you just admit that you simply
don't _want_ to go that fast because it's scary or you don't feel in
control or whatever? That was my POV for many many years and I never
felt the need to justify my bike choices by making stupid claims about
    it being 'too easy'.

[1] Well, I suppose I had use of my bro's CB900 for a while back in
    1980, but apart from that...

OK, dismantle it and Ebay the bits...

    Oh, *more* hassle. OK.

  11. Absolutely.

My personal justification has always been that I simply can't use the
performance of a modern litre-rocket anywhere round where I live in SE
England. Well, maybe once or twice a year.

Plus, while a get-off at 70 may be survivable if you're really lucky, a
    get-off at 140 won't be.

    But over the years

    <fx: sets lantern swinging>

I've learned to appreciate many bikes for what they *are* and the
sensory pleasure they impart. Elswhere Lozzo was going on about how much
    fun he's had on tiddlers - I absolutely agree. I downgraded 600cc when I
bought my old Power-Valve in 1988. And my present Duke, which is about
as fast in a straight line as a Szuuki SV650 or 600 Bandit, delivers so
much fun I actually don't really want to replace it.

    ****, is that still there?

Anyway, that whole event was nearly 3 years ago now - the points will
    be coming off soon.

You don't need an unfaired bike for that, you just need self control.
Despite me saying in another post that I ride quickly, I've realised
last night[1] and today that I don't. I accelerate hard and brake
hard but I rarely go above 100.

[1] Lovely ride around the Warwickshire lanes when it had cooled down
    a bit.

Must be the roads you're riding, I guess. I prolly hit >200kph (ind.)
most times I ride into work.

Twisty A and B roads for the most part. I could got faster but I
don't feel a need to. On the way to work I have to watch it because
on the M42 I'm likely to get nicked if I do silly speeds.

Agree about the Bandit 6. Frankly I wouldn't rule out the Bandit 12.
Only 20 horses more and much nicer power delivery + a little better
    built...

    As you can see...
With any luck, that's all I'll be getting - maybe your old points recycled.
Oh, I haven't been nicked yet, but I'm riding this thing like I used to ride
the GSX550, so it's only a matter of time.
