    It'd be about the early-mid '80s - I remember the little gallon-to-litre
conversion stickers being put in the side window of various parental cars
    at the time.

    McDonnell's accident (
    Frightening, isn't it?

    I dunno.

When we went in 200x (year before the centenery), we couldn't have had
better weather. We hadn't thought of sunburn and got toasted to a crisp
    up on the mountain.

Both sea crossings were like millponds too.

And I! On my Guzzi Spada NT. Recorded its highest-ever speedo reading
of 120mph coming down the Creg. I remember the Keppel Hotel at the
bottom was just a blur because the bumpy road (track) and the, erm,
primitive Guzzi suspension meant that my spectacles were high-
frequency bouncing on the end of my nose.
    Oil-cooled, shorely?
Conceiving and bringing up kids, mostly, in my case.

1986 TT: our bunch stayed in some b&b on Douglas seafront. The couple
that ran it had a daughter who was stunningly pretty, blonde, and as
thick as two blanks, but that didn't matter, because she wore short
skirts and no knickers. When she bent over the breakfast tables to
collect the dirty dishes, I distinctly heard a mass intake of breath
from the German contingent on the next table, and a clinking sound as
bitten-through cutlery fell onto their plates.

I also remember challenging our bike club's resident heavy boozer to a
competition: start with a drink beginning with A, then B, and so on,
through the alphabet. The Germans and the Dutch in the bar - yes, the
place had one - thought this was a fantasic concept and competed to
find the most outlandish drinks, generally in dusty bottles at the
back of the shelves. I got as far as T (Tia Maria) and then felt my
throat rise, and surrendered. The hangover the next morning was epic.

    So was I.
And the rest. It's the 40th anniversary of my first IoM trip this June.

Blimey. That must have been an epic trip, with those solid rubber
    tyres and acetylene lights.

    Quite.

Not sure when I've actually discharged my parental responsibilities.

About 30 minutes before conception - that's what got you in this mess.

Or is "responsibilities" not some kind of euphemism?

their front room is their garage, with strict rules that who ever is working

    "on the rug" apparently

    That's almost a weak attempt at a 306b, isn't it.
    That's easily done.
