I had a look at a 1979 Kawasaki Z200 for a friend on the weekend, the
bike is $300 and has 10 months Vic rego on it (worth about $200 or so)
It rides averagely but will be a good learner for the person concerned
and it doesn't need too much for RWC
It needs front head steam bearing, front drum brake reco (or at least
new set of shoes) and a flange (or what ever you call it) to go
between the pipe and the head

Besides the standard Kawasaki dealer is there a better place in Melb
to go for the head stem bearings and the maybe someone who supplies
the internals for the front drum?

any good reading from the web for head stems and drum brakes?

also, what the URL for the site that you a request a part from
    wreakers around the country

and, any specialized z200/Kawasaki wreakers in Melb

Find a shop that does britbikes and ask them who the bod is everyone
goes to for getting new linings done onto brake shoes. In Melbourne I
guess Union Jack or Modak would be the ones to ask. It's often a good
idea to take the whole wheel to the brake man so he can skim it if it's
    a bit oval.

May as well try the Kwak dealer first for bearings unless you have the
specs, and even then if it's cup and cone the beraring houses may have
the balls but not the race.

There's a wrecker in Sydney who has a lot of 70s/80s Jap stuff who might
    have useful bits, try (02) 4721 2116

  5. Remove the existing head stem bearings and go to a place that specializes in
bearings. They'll measure them and most times will supply a generic item
for about 25% of the cost of name brand bearings.
