I've still yet to achieve a rather daft ambition of 100MPH above the
    speed limit in all limits.

The CBR just runs out of steam at about 165, it also tends to vibrate a
    bit as well...
Humm, I haven't done 120 in a 20 either. The speed humps could be a bit
    tricky.

There was no realistic excuse for him to be breaking it, there was no

I don't think so, after all, how many 'normal' cagers would expect
another cage to pass them at 159 mph?

  11. Actually, that really sounds like an ambition worth pursuing.

Difficult in my case, because I only own one bike that's really capable
    of 130+.

The Cop's defence was that he was training himself to do high speed
    pursuit.

    Off duty.

    In an unmarked police car.

As I told the idiots in uniform who chased me at 80mph in a 30mph limit at
night so close behind I thought they were joyriders trying to run me off
    the road:

"If you want to do traffic duty; USE A FUCKING TRAFFIC CAR."

    Wankers.

My bike shoots up to an indicated 150ish and then takes forever to
accelerate any further, so I need a fairly long, traffic free stretch of
road to see really silly speeds.

I remember the first time I got it to 160, on a BOTAFOT run, the speedo
needle was just creeping up and I could see the 300yd marker for a
roundabout just getting closer and closer.
Actually I've got a 20 limit near me that I think I could manage 120
through, but it might be a bit marginal.

I think a few of us have done that!
In fact I've done over 130 in Edinburgh city centre come to think of it.
London Road heading up to Leith Walk. I hadn't done over a *genuine*
170 until the Gixxer thou though I'm sure.

I've done 80 up Regents Street at ~1:30 on a sunny Friday afternoon.

It certainly got rid of the two scooter boyz who'd been buzzing around me.

So any racing rider/driver also has the rights to tank around on public
roads at silly speeds to get experience

Fairly sure I've done that. Well, except the 130kph == 82mph limit on
French motorways, and I've come pretty close[1] to that, on the clock
at least. One of these days I'll actually max the gixxer out...

[1] Got up to an indicated[2] 285 (178mph) the other week in Italy,
with tail pack and tank bag on, and it was still accelerating when I
backed off due to traffic ahead.
[2] Previous experiments with GPS suggest that the actual speed was
    probably closer to 265kph == 165mph.

Interesting that in this thread all the usual disclaimers or euphemisms as to
actual speeds (eek mph, etc) seem to have been abandoned.

Must be a new found confidence in the powers of acquital ;-)
