Well the GP125's do. It probably the most exciting racing ever and
it's absolutely unbelievable what they get up to. I'll just lie down
    and catch my breath.

  3. I haven't watched this weekend's racing (terrestrial only TV)[1] but
every 125cc race I've ever seen anywhere has been utterly brilliant.

[1] No, not what you're thinking: television.

Ye gods you lot are slow. What have some of the more observant amongst
us been saying about the so called minor racing for *years*?

  7. Heh.

No, not really. I don't watch much sport, so all I'd be interested in
would be the bike racing and even then I'd watch a tenth of it because
    of other weekend duties.

Films? Yeah, but that's what Blockbuster is for.

So all in all, 40-50 quid a month doesn't float my boat.

I must admit to occasionally wishing I had Discovery or the History
    Channel, though.

  9. Sounds tempting. But I just don't watch much television. Strange but
    true.

Heh. Anne doesn't watch much, but the kids spend every spare moment
glued to the idiot box, so you're mostly right.

If they're glued already, you could argue that they don't need more
    choice.

You'd still be getting a better deal than me: paying £18 a month so
the in-laws can watch Sky in France.

I find the answer is having a bloody good tv guide[1]. Then you can
plan your viewing to avoid repeats and only watch new stuff.

The way it works in our house, Sarah watches Time Team (which is always
playing on some channel), Morse, Poirot, Midsomer Murders, Dalziel & Pascoe
et al,Buffy, Angel, SG-1, Laura watches manga, MTV-a-likes and teenage witch
stuff, and I shell out 20 squids a month, which is a small price to pay...

You know that PVR thing you're building?

Is it possible to link the TV capture card to Digiguide? And did you
work out a way of it controlling your cable box?

dunno - but possibly. I've been playing with ShowShifter which has
it's own guide driven by an XMLTV feed, and you can use that to
    program it.
no "nice" way, but using an IR blaster at least /works/.

Right. I'm pondering a similar thing and though it'd be nice to be
able to use software I already own and use a lot.
Yeah, I've not been able to find another nice solution.
