Debatable. Some would argue that Socialist policies in the 60s were
what killed British industry in the 80s.

In any case, the policies didn't save UK industry since it isn't here
    now. Preserved it, maybe.

    Ahaa!
Another tory admits Thatcher and her goblins were socialists :)
Doesn't matter who owns it as long as it is run efficiently. In this
area we lost 10000 manufacturing jobs out of a workforce of under
40000. All in a 10 year period under the tories.

So was that efficient or innefficient?

Problem is, if you're looking at economic 'efficiency' (whatever that
term means) people will probably focus on ROI or similar.

But, if the social and welfare costs (and the secondary impact) of those
kicked out of the privatised business to up the ROI is taken into
account (as it should be to get the whole picture) then the country is
    possibly worse off.

So, maybe privatising a business allows it to run more efficiently at
the expense of the country as a whole.

We are still a world leader in car making, it's just that the Yanks and the
Germans own most of our top of the range marques.

  5. It could be that a "posh" car is an instrument that is used by persons
possessed of a certain type of personality to project the impression
that they do not have extremely small genitalia and in no way are they
    inferior to
    other members of the species..
In other words, it's an ego-booster for the driver/owner of the vehicle.

How about "it is a car you wish you had, and they should be banned cos
you cannot afford one and you wish you had stuck in at school/worked
    hard for"?

Others would argue it was the development of new technologies and the
failure of British capital to keep up.
Like we need more industrial museums.

Or the refusal of the unions to accept the new technology because of
    fears for jobs.

Perhaps that you should consider the quality of the content of said tabloids
    rather than production quality.
