Got an email from an Italian mate today. Apparently the European Commission is
to force individual states to remove their 100 BHP limits.

Anyone know if this is true? Googling doesn't help.

If it is true then my 10R is going on Ebay in France next week. It'll
be like feeding bread to a bunch of starving ducks.

Can you strap enough jerry cans to the GS to get you there?

    (The Older Gentleman) gurgled happily,
sounding much like they were saying:
Which will, of course, "prove" that 101bhp+ is "unsafe", so should be
    banned everywhere...

It is estimated that one third to one half of the bikes are already
    running full power.

I'm not sure what's bad about that, they're already an option on top
end honda, BMW and kawasaki bikess.

And mandatory on new cars, trucks, buses..... Why should motorcycles
    be any different?

    Too late.

    They did it with seatbelts.

They did it with airbags. Probably.

They're doing it with daytime running lights.

    etc. etc.

Since 2004. Stability control will be from next year.

It can be done tomorrow if you can make up a situation where Sarkozy
will look like a savior by enacting a law allowing full-power bikes. For
instance, have a baby's arm chopped off, stuff him/her in your tank bag,
and ride to the hospital. If/when the baby dies, make it known to the
press that if you had a full-powed Z1000, you have have been at the
hospital sooner and the baby would have survived.

OTOH Sarkozy isn't much inspired by babies, he hasn't make any proposal
    towards forbidding freezers.

It has been since 2004, with an exception for manufacturers producing
    <500 units a year.
