    Hi everyone,

Been lurking and trying to absorb the vast supply of knowledge floating
around this newsgroup. Feels good to be on a relatively unspammed part
    of the 'net these days.

Previous bikes were a CX500 (thinkin' '83 but not sure), '82 Honda Magna
    V45, and a '98 Honda Shadow 750. Without a 2-wheeler now, but I have
possible purchase lined for a '00 VFR 700 that I had a chance to test
drive. Obviously a different animal than my previous bikes, but its a
good price and I'm getting lots of gear with it.

Can anyone offer any advice or comments on their experience with this
bike, and with this year of bike in particular. I am keen to take 3-4
weeks and do something like a 4 Corners tour in regards to mileage.

I have been googling and poking here and there but for this particular
bike I am not turning up as much as I would have thought, which has me a
    bit worried.

    Thanks all, and safe riding...

    MJ

Ah, exactly right, thanks for catching that. It is indeed a VFR800F.
And it must be a 2000 because it's yellow.

Still looking for feedback though. In particular anybody who has any
comment on a cruiser rider on owning a sport tourer for the first time.

    For information about VFR's, there's:
    http://www.cs.wisc.edu/~john/vfr/
There's a link here to the vfrlist, a mailing list for VFR owners (I
hang out there) which contains all sorts of information about the bikes.
    http://wdgah.org
has a discussion forum, so might have some info (but I don't hang out
there, haven't really gotten into web forums at all)
    http://www.vfr750.com
also has forums, which appear to be a bit more active than the wdgah
    ones.

As for feedback, it's really easier to answer particular questions, if
you have those. I own a '94 VFR, which is a different animal (though
similar in many ways) so can only make general comments myself. HTH

Thanks for that John. I am already a registered member of this gem:

which has tons of useful information on it. In case anyone found those
    links above useful...
