0% APR offers (paging TOG for a valuation too)

The CBR600RR3 is now 3 years and 3 months old, just replaced the rear
tyre and about to replace the front. Mileage at 15300 means the 16K
service is due in a few weeks as well.

Honda are offering 0% APR deals on new machines and I must say I'm
tempted to chop it in for a new one.

I'm calculating that my bike is worth an optimistic £3500 so the cost to
change will be £ 3799 against the list price of £7299 working out at
£105.53 per month over the three years.

If I'd seen the offer last week I could have mentally subtracted the two
tyres and 16K service against the difference which would have made the
    arguement to change easier.

The problem is, looking around there appears to be a fair number of new
CBR600RRs at substantially below list price.

Am I being lured into paying over the odds by the easy 0% APR offer ?

Buying on a credit card can be cheaper. Transfer the balance to somewhere
like Capital One and get 0% till Sep 2007, then transfer again if not all
    paid off.

Exactly what I was going to say. I paid for my R1 by credit card and
    it's almost paid off.

I reckon I've saved two grand in interest, at least.

How often have you had to change cards to maintain this?

I'm not sure 0% offers hike the price of bikes at all if you are buying
new main dealer. The biggest saving is always buying a year old bike.

I haven't changed my card at all.
I don't know how much the dealer I bought mine from was offering on
interest repayments, I knew that paying the bike off in just over six
months on the card I had would save me heaps.
Mine was 2 1/2 years old when I bought it and I really don't think I
could've got a better deal than the one I got[1], certainly not for the
condition of the machine I bought anyway. It was also the middle of
    winter.

9,009 miles, FSH, mint (and I mean mint) and 5 grand.

Not sure if I'm interested in the deal because I get a shiny new bike
or as a hedge against residual value and the additional costs associated
    with an older bike.

Might as well pop down to the local dealer just to get a ball park
    figure for part exchange.

That's nearly as good as my deal on the Zed. 9 months old, 431 miles and 5
grand. List was 7300 at the time.

I seriously looked at a Zed. There was a 04 plated one for 200 quid less
in a dealer I was looking at R1s at. What put me off, and it wasn't the
bike, was the dealer. Some of the bikes in there and particularly the
one I was most interested in was fucking horrible and just not worth it,
despite assurances to the contrary on the phone.

It kind of clouded my view of the whole place and the bike (Zed). Then
the R1 I've got now came along at another dealer and the rest is
    history.

Hmm the new Blade 1000 in black with added black. Don't think I've seen
any prod. streetbike which looked nicer.

I was hoping that if it stayed red and had Honda written on the side my
my wife might not notice thAT I've spent several thousand pounds without
    consulting her, again [1] !

    [1] Might invalidate the warranty if I immediately repaint a ZX-10R !

The trouble with The Doctor being fairly clued-up about bikes, is that
this approach wouldn't work here, more's the pity.

There again, there are so many bikes cluttering up The Chateau that she
might not notice an extra one. Or two.

I know someone that did this when he changed his 916 SPS for a newer
version. She still hasn't sussed him out.

I've just posted about him. She still remains clueless as to what
bikes he has in his garage.

This is the bloke that asked me to get him a freebie diary with the
initial S before their surname. When she received the diary she asked
why it had an S on it when her name is Karen. The twat told her I'd
said it was because she's a slapper.

I think you're spot on, they've offered £3400 for my bike, apparently
because it needs a new front tyre and it's due it's 16K service.

I've accepted the fact that there is a price to pay for my laziness, but
I really do not want the hassle of trying to sell my current bike.

Also not too confident that the dealer will do a good job of
checking/adjusting valve clearences come the 16K.

Looks like I've just bought myself a shiny new CBR600RR, wonder what
difference upside down forks and radial brake will make ?
