Standard Nige Unintelligible. In other words: "What did he say?"

I think I'd replace it as a matter of course unless it was
    astronomically expensive.

  3. That's the trouble with jobs like this. You think it'll be cheap, but it
*always* ends up costing twice what you thought it would.

True, but then you really ought to do both while you are at it. The
husky one was cheap, being little more than a length of single high
spec. bicycle chain as far as I could tell. It even had a split link,
which made replacing it very easy without disturbing the nether regions.

  5. The only camchain I've ever seen with a spring link was the old Honda
CD/CB175 twin one. Was this a spring clip or soft link?

My glass hasn't even been sipped from yet. Overflowing it is.
He certainly might get lucky, but he asked if missed anything and IME
ignoring the possibilty that other damage could be lurking is asking to
    rebuild an engine twice.
Did you flog the bike to Nige or are you thinking of buying it off him?
As well he should, but he should be prepared.

That's not in dispute, but Nige has already bought (or expecting to buy) the
parts he mentioned and I was merely making him aware that there could be
more parts to buy. In fact, exactly like he asked.

    DAMHIK, IJD, OK?
If it needs all four valves, the piston won't be in the best of health and
there's no mention of pistons on Nige's parts list.
If he doesn't need them, great, but being aware of the possibility is what
    Nige asked for.

Careful TOG, you could be accused of being a grumpy pard **** with a half
empty glass. Being realistic is obviously still not the done thing on ukrm.

  10. CB72/77 has a spring clip as standard. Very useful!
