*I* wouldn't, not in the slightest.

I also suspect society as a whole would adapt, albeit slowly and with
a moderate period of transitional pain [1], not least because industry
would have to re-adopt the approach of creating time served
apprentices instead of relying on getting technically trained people
    from the education system.

The rules would change, the balance shift, and life would go on, of
    that I'm sure.

[1] Mainly because the fix requires flexibility and adaptation in both
people and the system as a whole, and not many enjoy change.

I agree with you but as I like working in other folks countries I can't
    make a public statement

    *boggle*

I like working in other people's countries too, and don't think
anything I just said prohibits that.

My point was I couldn't support throwing out all the Johnny foreign
    workers.

Well, not the skilled ones. All the unskilled lot we can loose tomorrow,
I believe the dole offices are full of applicants.

I'll be insulted on Mike's behalf, you are commenting on his comments
    and attributing things to me.

If you are going to call people TC incorrectly because you do not agree
with their views, at least call the right person it.

People are trying to work out the diffs in the system, and may have
incorrect theories or info, it would be better if you just corrected
them or pointed to the correct info.

    Luxury !

As I don't recollect commenting directly on the channel islands, maybe
you will enlighten me/us to those comments ?

    I was asking questions

And pointing out how wrong people were (IMO) about

    a) expecting not to have to pay for treatment on the IOM
    b) not wanting people to come here and get treated free.
Probably, but please direct that at whoever it is that has angered you

Suddenly realise that it needs to invest in training local labour
    rather than re-training migrant labour?

It's got to be worth looking into.
